Bread of Life

"If thou tastest a crust of bread, thou tastest all the stars and all the heavens."
Robert Browning, English poet, (1812-1889)

If there is one thing me and my roommates can all agree on it's that bread is essential to life. Every Sunday we find ourselves making a loaf or two to last us through the week.
There is nothing quite as wonderful as the taste and smell of fresh homemade bread.

Today was a French Bread kind of day...

French Bread :
6 Cups Warm Water
4 Tblsp. Yeast
4 Tblsp. Sugar
2 Tblsp. Salt
4 Tblsp. Oil
13 Cups Flour

Dissolve yeast in 3 c. warm water; add other three cups of water.
Mix in the rest of the ingredients.
Knead approx. 5 minutes.
Set timer to knead dough every 10 min. until it has risen 1 hour.
Roll our into 4 loaves.
Score diagonally 6 times on top; cover until double.

Bake at 350
30-35 min.
Brush with butter; makes four loaves.
